Help with GROAB

About GROAB in general

The name GROAB is derived from the German word Grossanlagenbauprojekte meaning plant engineering and construction projects. In the GROAB data base you will thus find information on projects in the chemical, energy, oil and gas industries – carefully researched and updated by the editors of the technical magazine PROCESS. Projects which are currently in the planning or construction phase are at the focus of attention. The editors of PROCESS have researched several hundred entries and saved the data of importance to you. They are also responsible for updating and extending the stored information on a continuous basis. A user-friendly filter function is available in addition to full-text searches, and the data found can be displayed and sorted as preferred. Projects are assigned to various categories (e.g. plastics, petrochemicals, energy) to make it easier for you to assess the projects. Needless to say, you can print out the results of your search and save them as a csv data file for use with standard spreadsheet software. Premium users are notified automatically by e-mail about new projects of relevance to them – so there's no risk of missing a new entry. Start guided tour!

About logging in

Pay attention to lower-case and upper-case letters, and make sure that the Caps Lock key is not activated.

About using the database

General search options
Once you have logged on, the full-text search box opens. In the text box, enter a search term that is as precise as possible and click on the "Search for new projects" button. The matching projects will then be displayed in a list. You can define for yourself which categories are to be included in the search and subsequently displayed. The search settings can be modified using the "Settings" link immediately beside the input window. Here you can select (tick) or deselect (no tick) categories.

Filter/mail notification for premium users
Premium users are entitled to safe their filter configurations and may therefore order automatically generated email-notifications on selected projects. Follow upcoming instructions if you want to do so:

  1. Click on “advanced search” and pick your preferred filter and parameter.
  2. Now, press the button “apply filter”. A list of all projects which apply to your search will be shown.
  3. If you click on “save filter configuration” these settings are permanently saved. Hence, a mail to your account is being generated (only premium users) every time a new project is added that corresponds with your settings. Adjustments are easy to undertake by just deleting or modifying the filter settings.
Hint: If you want to be kept updated about all new projects in the database just pick the category “deadline” under GROAB filter configuration. Then choose a large time frame (e.g. 2000-2100) and apply.

Print and Export
If you would like to reuse your search results, you can either save them as a cvs file (for standard spreadsheet programs) or print them out by means of the Print symbol. The two symbols are located on the left, above the list with your search results.

Own settings
This gives you the option of modifying your user menu to your own data and search options. You can access the menu either by the link "To my user menu" in the status box in the left-hand navigation menu or by clicking the mouse on your name in the top right area ("You are logged in as: Your name"). The user menu gives you the following options:

  • Open the search page (full-text search)
  • Change your search settings
  • Change your access data
  • Change your personal data (to do so, first select the "Change" button, then make the change and finally press the "Save" button)
  • Log out

About generating entries

Project managers and plant engineers can, in consultation with Process editors, add their own projects to the database themselves. In the database itself, there are [?] symbols next to many input boxes. If you click on these, the right-hand window shows an exact description of how to use the input box and what information the relevant box must contain.
